About silvana
Silvana Creanza is a culinary creator and home cook based in New York City. Her passion for cooking can be traced back to a rich Italian heritage of traditional dishes, passed down from generations.
After a decade of running the famed YN bar in New York City, Silvana closed the doors to pursue her culinary dreams — bringing the joys of delightful dishes and fresh pasta to her friends and community.
Silvana’s interests in cuisine are decidedly fresh, light and heavily influenced by the Mediterranean coast of her upbringing. Her hometown of Altamura, in the province of Bari in the Puglia region (Italy's famed "heel of the boot") is the root of her fascination with baking, as the soil has special deposits of limestone, providing the ancient bakeries with grain for bread that has maintained its fame for centuries. After a lifetime of trying to perfect the Italian culinary flair, she loves sharing her family’s secrets and her own take on the traditional dishes with others.
When she’s not whipping up a masterpiece in the kitchen or exploring new recipes or techniques, she spends her time with her family and Alsatian Shepherd, Aloo—meaning potato (who feasts on homemade meals as well). Her favorite dish is Riso Patate e Cozze and she’s in constant pursuit of the perfect sourdough focaccia.
